Early Years Foundation Stage
Here at Rainbow Corner Playgroup & Pre-School we adhere to the Government’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. This enables us to set the standards for learning, development and care for children from 2 years of age up to leaving us for reception. Our curriculum covers all key areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage and is designed to meet the needs of each individual child. We are very passionate on how we deliver this within our setting.
The four themes of the Early Years Foundation Stage are:-
- A UNIQUE CHILD – Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
- POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS – Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and or a key person.
- ENABLING ENVIRONMENTS – The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
- LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT – Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.
We promote the seven areas of learning within the planning to ensure we support each child’s individual learning and development stages. Including the child’s next steps to develop a range of knowledge and skills to give the child the best possible start. This information is further explained within the room areas.
Each child is allocated a member of staff as their Key Person who will form links with their parents and any other carer the child may have. Records of the child’s development and progress will be created through observations and photographs and will be kept in a file and shared with the child and their parents. You will be given the file at the end of each term to take home and look at. There will be a summary of your child’s development in each term and there is room for you to make any comments. We welcome any feedback you may have throughout your child’s time at Rainbow Corner Playgroup & Pre-School.
